چکیده

Path gain and effective directional in azimuth urban canyons from actual rooftop base station sites are characterized based on a massive data set of 3000 links 12 streets two cities, with over 21 million individual continuous wave power measurements at 28 GHz using vertically polarized antennas. Large street-to-street path variation is found, median street varying 30 dB similar distances. Coverage the directly illuminated by roof edge antenna found to suffer an average excess loss 11 relative free space 200 m, empirical slope-intercept fit model representing 7.1 standard deviation. Offsetting 5 m away edge, as common macro cellular deployments, introduces additional 15 100 but this reduces distance. Around corner well modeled diffraction formula empirically obtained coefficient. Effective azimuthal degradation due scatter limited 2 for 90% data, supporting use high antennas canyons.

Path loss, beamforming gain and time dynamics measurements at 28 GHz for 90% indoor coverage

Achieving adequate coverage with high gain antennas is key to realizing the full promise of the wide bandwidth available at mm/cm bands. We report extensive indoor measurements at 28 GHz, with over 1000 links with and without Line-of-Sight (LOS) using a specialized narrowband channel sounder, capable of reliable measurements up to 171 dB path loss to characterize 90% coverage. Azimuthal power s...

Dynamic Double Directional Propagation Channel Measurements at 28 GHz

This paper presents results from the (to our knowledge) first dynamic double-directionally resolved measurement campaign at mm-wave frequencies for an outdoor microcellular scenario. The measurements are performed with USC’s realtime channel sounder equipped with phased array antennas that can steer beams electrically in microseconds, allowing directional measurements in dynamic environments. E...

Prediction of outdoor and outdoor-to-indoor coverage in urban areas at 1.8 GHz

A run-time efficient three-dimensional radio propagation prediction model is presented in this paper. The model allows mobile network operators to predict the outdoor and the outdoor-to-indoor coverage in dense urban areas using one general prediction model. It integrates almost all relevant propagation phenomena in dense urban areas with an accuracy comparable to the results of dedicated predi...

Wall Estimation from Stereo Vision in Urban Street Canyons

Geometric context has been recognised as important high-level knowledge towards the goal of scene understanding. In this work we present two approaches to estimate the local geometric structure of urban street canyons captured from a head-mounted stereo camera. A dense disparity estimation is the only input for both approaches. First, we show how the left and right building facade can be obtain...
